History, Vision & Mission
History
Allied Aged Care evolved from principal physiotherapist Alwyn Blayse’s private practice business in QLD. He started it as a sole trader under his own name in 1999 and later renamed as Blue Ribbon Physiotherapy in 2007. Blue Ribbon Physiotherapy became a company in 2015 and grew from looking after 1 nursing home to 5 that year.
We also grew from having just a few employees to over 30 employees by the start of 2018. Allied Aged Care now works in both community private practice and residential aged care. The areas we cover are Mackay, Kilcoy, Goondiwindi, Toowoomba, Gympie, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Atherton, and Malanda.
We have a passionate team of experienced and caring Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, supported by a wonderful administrative team to support them.
Our remarkable growth has come about from our passion and excellent word of mouth from our nursing homes. We are always determined to do aged care better.
Allied Aged Care is less about Alwyn now, and more about Allied Aged Care’s place in the aged care world. With new leaders coming through to continue and take AAC in directions Alwyn would never have anticipated.
Our Vision
Our vision is to provide “more care” during allied health provision in residential and community aged care services. AAC focuses on rural and regional QLD to improve aged care services there. We do this by providing health and economic benefits to our organizations and clients we work with. We constantly upskill and empower our team goals that are developed in consultation with team members and the clients we work with.
Our mission is to care more for our clients by 3 rules:
- Becoming part of teams and communities
- Provide more economic benefit to our clients and our organization
- Provide more meaningful treatments
Just like our mission statement says:
We express our care at the organizations we work at with 3 key points of difference that distinguish us from any other allied health group out there.
What do we mean by care at Allied Aged Care?
At Allied Aged Care, caring more stands for a lot of things. It means;
- Insisting on better quality in everything we do,
- Better communication with all our clients,
- Passion in the services we provide,
- More integrity, and challenging things if integrity is compromised,
- More reliable and responsible behavior,
- Looking after each another more,
- Not judging others, (be it our clients, fellow teammates, or the management),
- Growing (even if it is hard) as professionals and as an organization, and helping others grow as well, and
- Finding the humour in situations and being able to laugh at ourselves. Because it is only laughter and smiles that can get us all through tough situations.
The Future of Allied Aged Care
Allied Aged Care commits to become a force of change in the world of community and aged care in regional areas. We have broadened more now into more community and private practice work to help this aim. We continue to be passionate about what we do and to maximize the lives of our residents as well as our team.
Allied Aged Care has set goals for the organization that we aim to fulfill in the next 5 years.
- Within 5 years, by 2025, AAC will have all of our therapists who wish to work in a rewarding mix of residential, community and private practice in 10 regional areas.
- By 2025 AAC will have the lowest industry turnover of allied health staff by having our team having fulfilled and stable jobs with industry leading professional development and career progression.
- By 2025 AAC will be rated as the leading practical innovator in Allied Health Aged Care in Australia with the top application used by allied health therapists working in Aged Care in Australia.
- AAC will be the change we want to see in the aged care world – to educate, guide and lead more ethical and evidence-based assessment and meaningful treatment of elders in the aged care and allied health industry.
- AAC will be renowned for showing practical ways that caring more can lead to great results for organisations and residents whilst still meeting financial goals.
